Sands of Time lies on the fringe of Mechanical Snowfield, a vast desert shaped by time and space anomalies.

Its present-day theme compares the desert to an hourglass, while its past theme turns toward auroras, the North Star, and a colder distance.

Ghastasaucey explains that an accident at the Nuclear Museum has affected this fringe area, so the party ventures deeper into the sands to look for a way to repair its time-space distortions.

The farther they go, the less certain restoration becomes; even if the land cannot be repaired, the route still leads in the direction of the voyage.

Later dialogue shows that the Sands of Time problem can be resolved along the way, making the region a key bridge between the Snowfield arc, past events, and faraway clues.
