Decamp Dodder
Parasitizes a plant, refunds it, and removes hypnotism too.

Durability400Lore
Decamp Dodder is brought to the team by Pujiang after getting lost near the waterfall. Its memory is incomplete, and even Hurriclover only vaguely feels that it has seen it before; whether it was merely lost or once abandoned remains unresolved.
Its parasitism does not attack zombies directly. Instead, it restores a plant into a card and sun while clearing abnormal mental states. The resulting card leaves the field with the target's saved state and waits for a new landing tile.
Mechanics
Role
Plant refund · State restoration
- Base data: 50 sun; 0s recharge; 400 HP.
- Can only be planted on an existing plant; after about 3s, the target leaves, creates its card, and refunds planting sun.
- The generated card preserves runtime state, but clears hypnotism and returns to the player's side.
- Binding can pause a target's explosion or attack routine; replanting still follows the target plant's own rules.
Advanced mechanics
The story and tooltip only state that Decamp Dodder parasitizes a plant, refunds sun and card, and removes plant hypnotism. In full, it creates a state card: the target leaves the field, planting cost is refunded, runtime state is written into the packet; hypnotism and the old tile are removed, and the new tile then checks legality again.
Parasitism and refund
By default, Decamp Dodder cannot be placed alone; it must be planted on an existing plant tile. After the target is chosen, a bind flow of about 300 cs begins. When it completes, the target plant leaves the board, its corresponding seed packet is created, the target's planting sun is refunded, and Decamp Dodder leaves with it.
Let C_target be the target plant's planting cost. If the recovered target is planted again, the refund normally pays that target cost and the net sun change is −50; if the target is not replanted, the event converts an on-board plant into C_target−50 available sun.
The 0s recharge only means Decamp Dodder's own packet can be selected repeatedly; it does not make parasitism instant. Repeated operations are still constrained by the 300 cs flow, target occupancy, temporary packet handling, and redeployment legality.
State card
The generated packet is not an ordinary fresh seed card. It seals the target's state from just before resolution. Peashooter genes, Sunflower upgrade level or Twin state, remaining HP, timers, bottle liquid, day/night form, and similar internal data are written as target-owned state.
Hypnotism is an explicit exclusion. When the target becomes a card, hypnotism is cleared; after replanting, the plant returns to the player's side. This handles an allegiance abnormality, not ordinary slow, freeze, or damage recovery.
The old tile is also not preserved. Wherever the card is planted again, the new tile's terrain, Lily Pad carrier layer, Corchid-supported tile state, and the target plant's own planting rules are checked again. State preservation does not bypass landing legality.
Redeployment
Position rewriting occurs when the card is planted again. Upgraded or Twin Sunflowers, gene-specific Peashooters, damaged Wall-nuts, resting Hygro Plantago, and similar targets can be sealed into a packet and continue from another legal tile.
Redeployment does not change the target's plant type. Water still needs aquatic legality or a Lily Pad carrier layer; Corchid platforms still require four supported corners; special terrain still reads its own rules. Decamp Dodder rewrites position, not planting permission.
Between binding, holding, and replanting, the target does not provide its former output, defense, or production. The empty original role and the held-packet interval are the negative state carried by the same position rewrite.
Binding and evasion
The bind flow is about 300 cs, so Decamp Dodder is not instant movement. Against on-board threats such as Hypnotic Pole Zombie, Hurriclover's whirlwind, area barrages, or boss projectiles, the card state matters because the target temporarily stops being read as a board plant.
Holding a card is not duplication. The target has left the field, and before it is replanted it will not keep attacking, blocking, or producing; the card only preserves the state object itself, not its board role.
For targets with trigger or attack routines, such as CocoBottle Shine, binding can pause explosion and attack tempo. If a card is then created, bottle liquid, day/night form, and related timers are still treated as state-card data.
Story role
In the story, Pujiang entrusts Decamp Dodder to the team, and Cherry Bomb first identifies it as a parasitic plant. Decamp Dodder then explains that parasitism can restore a plant into an identical card and refund sun while clearing abnormal mental states.
Pujiang mentions pole-vaulting zombies at Maple Falls modifying their poles, and guesses that Decamp Dodder's cleanup can answer that abnormal mental state. Hygro Plantago further explains that the substance is related to Hypno-shroom's material, but works on plants.
Later planning keeps Decamp Dodder as a formation-correction tool: it can redeploy plants after Hurriclover scatters them, or store plants as cards when Hygro Plantago cannot recharge in time. Hurriclover itself only vaguely remembers Decamp Dodder and describes the ability as flexible.
Interactions & counters
- Hypnotic Pole ZombieCan remove plant hypnotism while refunding the plant as a card and sun.
- CocoBottle ShineBinds the bottle to pause its explosion and attacks; refunded cards can preserve off-cycle day/night state.
- HurricloverCan recover key plants after tornado movement disrupts the layout.
In-game tooltip
Turns a plant into a seed packet and returns the amount of sun spent on that plant.
